This is a family owned outfit where the owners are involved with day to day operations. Family environment with good people throughout the whole operation. Hard working people that take pride in the job we get to do day in and day out. Cowboy/pen rider will report and work with the feedlot manager everyday. Consulting Cattle Veterinarian and Cattle Nutritionist will be available for anyone in the operation to talk to day in and day out. We are looking for a team player that works well with others and shows-up with a good attitude and a can-do mentality. Have the ability to work in all weather conditions. Other info regarding the job position is outlined below. We are willing to train the right fit and have a very good environment for learning. Task involved with the job: Ability to ride a horse. Ability to rope and doctor cattle. In the feedlot pen or outside. Ability to identify and pull sick or injured animals for treatment. Ability to follow vet protocols for treatment of sick cattle Post Dead cattle for cause of death Manage the cattle in the feedlot hospital. Gather, sort and return stray cattle to their home pens. Help process cattle in and out of the yard. Keep good notes for record keeping of cattle and tasks completed in a day. Assist in sorting and shipping cattle. Report and Maintenance needs related to fences, gates, water systems to crew for repair. Assist in general yard maintenance task as needed Other Tasks and duties as assigned. Job Requirements: -Ability to ride, handle, and maintain personal horses capable of working in a feedyard setting - Knowledge of cattle behavior, handling techniques, and low-stress livestock handling (highly preferred) - Valid driver’s license and Clean MVR. - Physical ability to: stand, walk, ride, kneel, and bend for extended periods. -Lift and carry up to 50 lbs - Work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, dust) - Basic communication and record-keeping skills - Team-oriented with a strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail Pay Benefits: Salary Position: Starting Salary of $2,500.00 to $3,000.00 a month based Experience. Health insurance options available after 90 days on the job. 1 Week paid vacation a year 4 Head of Horse Care paid for by the company. (Shoes, Feed, Vet). 4 Head of horses must be able to be used and worked within the operation. Housing Provided. Off feedlot house in Kirk, CO. Water, Electrical, Internet, and gas paid for by the company. House if fully furnished. ½ a beef a year is provided after 90 days on the job. Company Pick-up and stock trailer provided.
