Description:
Holly is a sweet little mare, gentle and safe for just about anyone. She is excellent on trails and rides quietly everywhere you take her. Holly is coming 19 years old but don’t let her age fool you. She is sound and healthy and happy to go wherever you ask her to go. She has been ridden by all levels of riders, from kids to grandmas and from total beginners to very experienced riders. Holly has the sweetest personality and impeccable ground manners. She nickers when she sees you coming and will walk up to you and beg for attention. She is not mare-ish and can be turned out, hauled with and ridden next to other mares or geldings without issue. Holly is the perfect size at 14.2hh, small enough not to intimidate the kids but big enough for the adults to ride as well. We recently bought her from an older gentleman who had owned her for over 12 years, and had used her to ride around his ranch and pack his grandkids around. Holly had been turned out and not ridden for over 4 years when we bought her, due to his health, and we got her home and hopped on her and she rode off like she had been ridden the day before. The video we did is on her 3rd ride in 4 years. She rides the same whether you ride her every day or every four years, and has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off. Holly is not barn sour or herd sour, and is not spooked by anything, but does not enjoy riding in the arena. She rides quietly out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and rides out on a loose rein. She has a very smooth trot you can sit to all day long, but has to really be pushed to lope and isn’t going to go out and lope circles. Holly prefers to take it easy and not go fast. Holly will ride out alone as well as with a group, will happily lead or follow, and has been ridden down the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it.
