At 17hh and 1900 pounds, she is a true gentle giant and is as safe and steady as they come. Freyja is a gorgeous 11 year old Brabant mare, a massive horse with a puppy dog personality. She has been my 10 year old son’s horse for the last year and has taken excellent care of him, and she has also packed my 6 year old around the ranch. Freyja originally came from the Amish and will pull single or double, but we do not have a buggy and have only ridden her. She was ridden extensively before we bought her and is very easy to steer, and has an excellent stop and back up. She will go anywhere you ask her to go and even though she is big, she does not take advantage of her rider. She was built for strength and not speed, will walk and trot with ease but does need some encouragement to lope. We have ridden Freyja both on trails and in the arena, we have ridden her all through town and even through the drive through of dairy queen, and my son won first place on her in a Halloween costume contest. She is absolutely unflappable, not scared or spooked by anything. Freyja is very sweet with excellent ground manners, is easy to catch, stands tied quietly, and will load up in any size trailer. She loves to be around people and is very cautious when my boys are working around her, and is very respectful and not at all pushy. She has a very smooth trot you could sit to all day long, and when you stop her and tell her whoa she will not move again until you ask her to. Freyja is shod all the way around and does not require stocks to be shod, and has no soundness issues or maintenance required. She has been ridden both English and Western, and while she is a big girl she still fits into a regular western saddle, so no need to run out and buy a special saddle. Freyja is kind and good minded and has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off, and even if not ridden regularly she stays gentle with no need to warm up before being ridden. She will cross water without issue, is very sure footed and will go up, over or through anything you point her at. Freyja rides just as good bareback with a halter as she does with a saddle and bridle. She gets along well with all other horses, will ride out alone as well as with a group, will happily lead or follow, and has been ridden down the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it.
