If you are looking for a horse for your kids or grandkids (or even for yourself) and want one guaranteed to be safe and gentle for even the littlest or oldest one, then take a look at Snowman. He is a 17 year old GRADE ranch gelding, 15.1hh, with an excellent handle and stop, and he is light enough that the kids can turn and stop him with ease. He has the kindest eyes and sweetest personality. Snowman always seems to know who is on his back and will tailor how fast he goes to their ability. Both my 6 and 10 year olds ride him and he will go slow and easy for the young one while stepping it up for the 10 year old. I will be getting video of them riding Snowman as soon as the weather warms up. Snowman has been on one ranch out in West Texas for most of his life, where he was originally the foreman’s horse and then spent his later years babysitting all of the grandkids and visitors to the ranch. He had been turned out for several years before we got him, and we stepped up on him and rode him off like he had been ridden the day before. Because he was turned out for years he is not as fat as he could be, but has been steadily gaining weight since we bought and is looking great! Snowman is the same horse every time you ride him, whether it is once a year or once a week. He rides just as good bareback with a rope around his neck as he does with a saddle and bridle. He rides great out on trails as well as in the arena, and is not spooky, barn sour, or herd sour. Snowman is the perfect horse for a young cowboy wanting to learn how to rope and do ranch work, but would make an excellent playday horse as well. Snowman has excellent ground manners, is easy to catch, and is perfect for the shoer. I trust him 100% around my boys and he is very careful when they are working with him. He will ride out alone as well as with a group, will happily lead or follow, and has been ridden down the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. We can hold Snowman until Christmas if needed.
