Position Overview: Fence Builder and Irrigator Position Responsibilities • Maintain existing Fence Lines on both Private land and public allotments • Install temporary electric fences • Oversee the upkeep of corrals, shipping facilities, and livestock feeding areas. • Operate Wheel Line equipment and associated mainline and electric pump equipment (Summer only) • Observe and adjust headgates to feed flood irrigation ditches (Summer Only) • Change flood irrigation dams and control water for the best and most efficient use (Summer only) • Some wintertime cattle feeding may be needed. Necessary Key Skills • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. While this position primarily works independently, teamwork will be required for certain ranch tasks. Frequent communication will exist with the cowboy crew for pasture in/out dates. • Organization: you will be expected to work alone most of the time. Staying on task and completing the work before you will be your responsibility • Equipment Operation: Skid steer operations, ATV and UTV operations • Hand Tools: Basic knowledge of using a cutting torch, stick welder, and chainsaw is required. • Physical capabilities: This will be a very demanding position. Work on uneven terrain, packing heavy tools and materials will be a daily occurrence. While most areas can be accessed via ATVs, many on this ranch cannot. It will be hot, steep and rocky. On top of that, most creatures here will bite you. Other Ranch Information • The use of illegal drugs or alcohol is strictly prohibited. Alcohol is not permitted on ranch property or in ranch housing. Personal use off property is not restricted, but consumption on property is not allowed. • No smoking is permitted on ranch property. • Personal pets are welcome, with preference for well-behaved dogs that remain outside. Cats are allowed. The presence of pigs is negotiable outside we like to keep our housing and ranch vehicles clean and well kept. • Hablamos español, pero no muy bien. ¡Pero estamos dispuestos a aprender!
