A museum-quality piece of Western and Vaquero heritage — made by the legendary Ernie “Ernest” Morris, one of the most respected horsehair and rawhide braiders, painters, and sculptors of the 20th century.



Morris bridged the worlds of classic California Vaquero craftsmanship and traditional Western artistry, creating work that embodies both authenticity and refinement.



This authentic horsehair bosal stands as one of the rarest surviving examples of its kind. It retains its original handwritten tag by Morris himself, reading “Ernie Morris Bosal” on one side and “3 of 6” on the reverse, confirming it as one of only six ever made.

The Nabs assembled one of the largest private collections of Ernie Morris horsehair gear, rawhide braiding, mecates, paintings, and bronzes ever known.



To our knowledge, no other Ernie Morris horsehair bosal has ever been publicly offered for sale — a rare opportunity for advanced collectors and historians of Western and Vaquero craftsmanship.
