Richie Morgan Santa Barbara Spade Bit – Provenance Documented



Offered here is an original Santa Barbara loose-jaw spade bit with documented provenance from the collection of Richie Morgan.



From Richie’s own words:



“Art Huggenberger and a Mexican friend brought this bit out of Mexico to the Shasta O Ranch. Bob Hollister traded it to Jack Wilson, who gave it to his daughter-in-law. She traded it to Robin Woods for babysitting. Twenty-five years after it came to the U.S., I traded for it. Hollisters used it on Whitey Salute. It is all original, a Santa Barbara loose-jaw spade.”



Additional provenance has been confirmed by his daughter, the author of Richie’s book, who shared memories of her father and the Hollister family, noting their friendship, horsemanship, and the legacy behind this very piece.



This bit is documented as #27 in Richie Morgan’s book, One Man’s Collection of Early Spade Bits to the Legacy of Richie Morgan, and the daughter has confirmed the new owner will receive a digital copy of that page for provenance.
