Description:
We are a family of 6 looking for a ranching job with long term and growth opportunities. Mainly looking for one full time position. I have been full time in cow/calf with some yearlings going on 6 years. I have experience in calving, haying, feeding, doctoring, branding, herd health, welding, fencing, equipment maintenance, weaning, pre-conditioning, horseback work, low stress stockmanship and more. Prior to ranching full time, I have been working in some sector of agriculture for 15+ years. I have experience in most aspects of a cow/calf operation minus finances, which I would be interested in learning from a willing teacher, since knowing cost of production is essential to operations and profitability. The Ranching for Profit ideas really interest me. We are not looking for just any ranch job. There are aspects of this lifestyle we are passionate about as a family and areas of the ranch operations I am passionate about. I respect the way each ranch operates and do not expect them to change for me. Therefore, it is important for us to find an operation that is somewhat like-minded and shares some of those passions. On the family side those include raising our children in a Christian environment, teaching them responsibility and hard work, which happens when they are working alongside us. On the ranching side those include stewarding the land and livestock to the best of our ability by promoting soil, plant, and animal health, and low stress stockmanship through the management of the land, livestock, and wildlife. I like to use horses for cattle work but I do not expect to be horseback every day. I also like to calve on pasture or range, not interested in barn or dry lot calving. A more detailed list of experience and skills is on my resume. Our start date would be October/November due to current commitments. We prefer to stay in the Midwest states.
