I am a 30 year old man, married with 2 kids, ages 11 and 7. Currently heifer manager of a good sized ranch in Texas. I have 11 years of camp experience, and spent my childhood feedlot and day working. I’m young enough to have a whole lot of work left in me, but old enough to have common sense. I’m confident in my ability to ride, rope, brand, spot sicks and doctor, implement and execute feeding programs, transport, and overall herd management. I have worked with the Forest Service in Arizona and BLM in Texas, I believe strongly in good land management and maintaining good relationships with neighbors. I can also farrier, run heavy equipment and fix or build most tack. I’m a fast learner and a hard worker. I’ve been out on the wagon and done things the old fashioned way, and I also know the value of a gentle herd that trusts me. My 11 year old son is handy on a horse, still working on his roping. My wife is an experienced cook, a tidy house keeper and can pull a trailer. We homeschool, enjoy living remote, and require Sunday mornings off for church-barring an emergency. I take pride in my work, and will run my camp like I’m the one that has to sign the checks. We don’t need extras like cable and internet at the house- we seek in all ways to live according to 1 Thess. 4:11 "aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands". We don’t drink, don’t do drugs, I do smoke cigarettes, but never in the house. Will pass a drug test, background check, and credit check, and we have clean driving records. I have a good horse, my daughters 2 ponies, an outside dog that wont chase cows or run horses, some chickens and a barn cat. We prefer to be in central Texas up through the panhandle, New Mexico or Arizona, but may consider other offers. I’m looking for a new camp because the ranch I’m currently working for has shifted to be more hunting than cattle, and while I don’t object to hunters, and can help when I need to, it’s not what I’m looking to do for a living.
