He is a horse we can grab when any job needs done. Last week an 85 year old friend asked for a pack trip into the mountains as what he said was his last trip into the backcountry due to his aging body. Idaho was fit for the job, and his grandson who has never ridden a horse before rode Idaho for miles. The week prior a bull was on the fight. My son grabbed Idaho to get him roped and taken to the corral. While he got the bull fed and situated in the corral. My young daughter ready for bed came out in flip flops and her night gown and stepped into her older brothers saddle with stirrups 12’’ beyond her feet and quietly rode Idaho back to the tack shed and unsaddled him. It takes one heck of a horse to go from high speed chase of a bull on the fight, to roping and fighting him back to the corrals, to being trustworthy of instantly switching gears and allowing a little girl in her nightgown to go put him away. Idaho is a great gelding that will work and work and work some more. He has been used for years in the mountains as a guide horse, as a horse for dudes, and as a pack horse. He will pack meat, he will pack horns, and he will do it all day long. He is not a dead head dude trail horse. He is a go to horse on the ranch when you want a turnkey horse to get a true ranch job done. He has a good rein and moves off leg pressure. This horse is a finished cowboy ranch horse. He ropes outside, he ropes in the branding pen, and he tracks a dummy. When the city cousins come to the ranch, he is the one that will downshift and take care of them as well. He will ride off alone quietly, will trot all day long, he will brand calves, he will go wherever you point him. He was not a part of our breeding program but quickly earned the right to receive our coveted brand. He is high speed, heavy muscled, rock solid, experienced, and beautiful.
