Description:
Poncho is a stunning dapple-gray Percheron/quarter horse crossbred gelding. He is 6 years old and stands 16.1 hands tall. He is thick and stout and has a beautiful conformation. Poncho is an excellent all-around horse that trail rides, works around the ranch, knows his way around in the arena and even does tricks! Poncho has a kind eye and sweet nature. He is friendly, gentle and full of personality. We have owned Poncho for over a year now and in that time, he has grown to be a family favorite. He is an absolute delight both in the barn and in the saddle. Between his color, conformation, disposition, skill and experience he is an amazing mount! His size, brains and docile nature can be attributed to his Percheron talents and his athleticism, skill and versatility can be attributed to his quarter horse qualities.

Poncho is a super smart horse who knows tricks! He knows how to lay down and sit like a dog. He will also follow you around at the command to come. He will side pass to a mounting block or whatever you choose to mount from. He has had many hours of liberty and groundwork training and is very disciplined and has an easy to please attitude. He is the type of horse that can be ridden by most anyone but trained well enough to ride up to any level of rider.

Poncho will lope circles both ways, taking the correct lead each way. He has a one-step lope that is super smooth and slow. He also one-hand neck reins, has a big stop and backs as well. He has been ridden in both indoor and outdoor arenas and excels in both places.

On the trail, Poncho is a trusted mount. He has been ridden countless miles by our entire family. He can handle all sorts of terrain from rough, rocky and steep to muddy, soft and deep. Poncho will ride out alone or with a group, in the front or in the back. He will ease through creeks, over logs and through brush.

We have ridden Poncho almost daily to check cattle, fences and pastures and has also been pasture roped off of. He is no stranger to the ranch life and has even been used on a weekend cattle round up where we rode him over thousands of acres and caught, sorted and worked hundreds of cattle. He is a consistent and reliable mount!

Poncho is great with guns, tarps and whips. He is used to commotion and handles it all very well. He stands tied patiently, stands for the farrier, loads and hauls wonderfully and gets along well with other horses. He is clean in the stall and easy to catch. He is familiar with seeing wildlife such as deer, turkey, rabbit and squirrel on the trail almost daily and he is also familiar with the more domesticated animals that run in and out of the stall and pasture with him. On any given day you may find a goat or kitten hanging out in the stall with him. He is also great with dogs around the barn and on the trail with him. He has been ridden to and through town many times as well and is completely traffic safe.

Poncho has even been ridden English and started in jumping as you can see in the video. He is truly a versatile horse with the potential for just about anything you could imagine.
