Description:
Squeak is a 3yr old 15.2hh (and still growing,) big boned, grade quarter horse gelding. He has been trail ridden all over, lightly used to chase cows, has been on hunter paces, ridden by amateurs, and more. Here is a good minded, gentle, smart, fun, easy going, gorgeous red roan gelding. I could use a hundred more adjectives to describe this phenomenal gelding, but the video will be able to tell you much more than I can type out! Not only does this guy have an in-your-pocket personality that will win hearts, he is also a beautiful, athletic mover that will turn heads wherever he goes.

On the ground, he is safe to handle, brush, bathe, tack up, and mount. He enjoys being loved on and will entertain anyone willing to scratch him or give him attention! He is not cinchy or hard to saddle or bridle. Squeak will side pass up to the mounting block.. or... fence, gate, trailer, truck bumper, ladder, log, rock, forklift... or even another horse, making getting on almost TOO easy. All of those options have been used by me to get on and let me tell you, it’s the handiest little trick! He has also been handled and brushed by kids and doesn’t mind them tearing around on their bikes and scooters, or throwing their footballs and basketballs around him. I’ve even played catch from his back! If you wanted to you could use a broom, shovel, blower, rake, (and probably anything else you can think of,) from his back. Not that it saves any time, but it certainly makes yard work more fun!

Alright, stay with me now, I’m getting to the riding part!

He can be ridden english, western, and bareback, (you could probably just chuck a lawn chair up there and he’d be fine, although I haven’t tried that one.) He is currently ridden mostly western. The bit I use is a short shank with a billy allen mouthpiece and he seems to like it, but he can also be ridden in a snaffle or halter if you’d like.

In the ring he walks, trots, lopes, picks up both leads. He will slow jog but also has a very nice extended trot as well as a comfortable uphill canter. He will ride around on a loose rein at a consistent speed, or will ride with contact. He moves his shoulders, hind quarters, rib cage, lopes off from a walk, side passes, arcs / counter arcs, leg yields and will stop and back up off your seat and leg. He has also been started neck reining.

On the trails he will go out alone or in a group, take the lead or follow along behind. He will walk through water, over logs, over bridges, down the road (good with traffic,) through the woods, etc. He has been ridden by beginners in the ring and on the trail under supervision. He is right in between woah and go. You won’t have to constantly nag him to keep up, but he won’t be trying to trot off the whole time either, making him a joy to ride on the trail. He’ll walk over tarps, you can bounce a ball off him, throw a rope off him, carry a flag, and so on. Squeak has also been used on hunter paces and jumped over small logs and did very well!

He has been introduced to cows and seemed to show interest! Although he hasn’t been schooled on them much, he seems to really enjoy having a cow in front of him.

Squeak is sound with no special maintenance. He currently has four shoes, but can go barefoot with no issues. He is heavy boned with good feet and has not been injury prone whatsoever for me! No health issues or vices. No cribbing, weaving, kicking, biting, or meanness. He has no special turnout needs and will get along with anyone, although, prepare to be entertained because he will find a way to play with any horse you put him with. He is on a forage only diet that consists of free choice grass hay, and alfalfa 2x a day. He is up to date on wormer, farrier & dental work, and flu / rhino, west nile, rabies, and tetanus vaccines, and has a current coggins. He also loads and trailers without issue, cross ties, straight ties, ground ties, and picks up all four feet. He is not touchy on the ground or on his back. He is out of an AQHA mare, however his sire was never registered therefore he is being sold as grade, but his dam goes back to Dry Doc and Peppy San Badger.

I could truly go on for hours talking about this horse and would love to answer any questions anyone may have about him. I really do love this young horse and have put my heart and soul into setting him up to have a bright future. I am proud to offer him for sale and can’t wait to see what he becomes. He has the athleticism and potential to go do team penning, sorting, roping, breakaway, hunter under saddle, or something in the performance world with some fine tuning, or he would be perfectly content doing trails or being an all around / family horse for someone. He is fun to be around and handle and will make someone very happy!

In the time I’ve had him he has been exposed to many things and has a great mind on him, however, please keep in mind he is only 3 and does still have a baby brain moment from time to time.

Well... Essays would have been much more fun in school if I had been able to write about this horse! I’m sure there are things I’m forgetting, but the video should show you everything you need to know! 2 hours worth of footage condensed as much as possible, and trust me it was not easy!
