Ranch, rope, trail, she’s done it all!

Pickles, a half Percheron, half Quarter Horse mare, is a beautiful Red Dunn. Extremely consistent, remaining the same reliable horse every time you ride her, regardless of time off. She’s sound, sane, and ready to go on a loose rein and low head. Pickles has extensive experience in moving cattle across varied terrain, including forests with deadfall, and crossing water and ditches.

Her impressive resume includes hunting, packing, roping, roping and dragging calves to the fire for branding, doctoring cattle, and all of your basic arena needs including roping out of the box. She has also competed in a sorting and did well. She has even moved a herd of about 75 head of horses back home from pasture.

She is well-mannered for tying, trailering, and shoeing. She has good hard feet, stands quiet while you mount to ride, and ground ties well. She does not pull back, buck, or bite. Pickles can be ridden bareback, double, and even with a dog.

Her impressive skills encompass roping and doctoring over 100 cattle in the pasture, pulling cattle into a trailer, packing flags, riding double with kids, and has even pulled kids around in a sled. Pickles is remarkably well-broke and soft, showcasing abilities such as side passing, opening gates, getting her leads, exhibiting great stop and back, neck reining, roping, and riding with a nice low headset and loose rein. She’s one of those really nice mares that can be in a stall, pasture, or corrals with other horses and you wouldn’t even know she’s a mare, even when she’s in season!

She gets along with our herd of about 30 horses of all ages, and I’ve never seen her pick a fight.
