Description:
Penguin is a 5 year old “local” boy with no fancy parentage to speak of. There might not be any Dash Ta this or Metallic that in his heritage…or maybe there is. That’s the beauty of a grade horse. Their background can be whatever you choose to believe. A blue collar fella to match his questionable parentage, Penguin makes a living on the ranch calving and riding pastures to check cattle in the rough of the Badlands. He’s big at 15 hands and solid-built enough to haul calves or pull a mama cow with no maternal instincts. Calm, quiet and good on the trails with no spook, buck or other bs, he’s suitable to throw your “I’ve always wanted to ride a horse” girlfriend on even if she’s wearing flip flops. If you’re a serious rancher, he crosses water, goes over logs, drops down into questionable draws and generally does whatever is asked of him. Penguin has a professional side too, as he is started in the heading and heeling and has the same “just get er done” attitude in the arena that he does out in the rough. If you want to spruce him up for a night under the arena lights, he’ll meet you at the gate and hold the shampoo while you suds him up. He’s good with the farrier and appreciates a good clip and shave. If you’re looking for a horse that will stick his nose in the halter, hold open the gate as you pass through and generally take care of your sorry self, then Penguin is your dude. You’d better snatch him up because being black as coal with white in just the right places to get him noticed, this boy is smoooth. 100% sound in every way. Penguin does have a scar on his left hind leg that a vet has recently confirmed is cosmetic.
