Denton is a 2020 AQHA and APHA Registered Gelding by an own son of the legend himself, COLONELS SMOKING GUN! Denton is what we call a “jack of all trades”. He was started in a phenomenal reining/ranch riding program. There, he acquired all the fancy, showy maneuvers. He has been successfully shown in the Ranch Versatility classes including Ranch Rail, Ranch Trail, and Ranch Riding. With his dark, mahogany chestnut color and four white socks, he turns heads everywhere he goes. Since he’s been with us, we have used him for everyday chores. Gathering yearlings off wheat, packing our 10 year old around while dad doctors cattle outside, and shipping cattle out of the preconditioning yard has all been added to his resume. Through it all, Denton has never told us no. He’s one of the best minded, well rounded, happy-go-lucky horses we’ve had. Denton has every single tool in the toolbox to make a superstar heel, breakaway, or calf horse. We’ve started pen roping off of him and he’s showing all the signs and talent to go far. He will watch a cow, rates with little to no effort, and has a fancy stop to wrap it all up. Denton is a 100% more whoa than go type of horse. He’s got tons of athleticism, but all at the right time…when you ask for it. He doesn’t get on the muscle or tense when the pressure is on and when you’re ready to just relax, his whole body melts. We’ve rode him on several trails and Denton will go wherever you point him. He’s sure footed and rides in a group or out alone. He’s got zero quirks, flaws, or vices. This gelding stands tied like a saint, loads/unloads, saddles, bridles, farrier work, and worming can all be done with no fuss. He is smooth traveling, has a big fancy turn around, flawless lead departures, and a deep, efficient stop. Denton literally has the safest disposition in a horse I’ve ever experienced. He’s so gentle, a person will start to wonder whether he was bottle fed as a baby. He loves people so much. We could go on all day about this special gelding.
