Description:
HP Livestock is looking for a Receiving yard Forman/Lead cowboy for yearling cattle

operation located in Burlington, Wyoming. HP Livestock has three locations, two outside

of Cody, Wy and one in Burlington, Wy. The position will be responsible for

managing/operating a receiving yard in the winter and managing a large herd of

yearlings grazing on mountain grass in the summer. HP Livestock is a rapidly growing

ranch operation looking for an individual who is willing and eager to learn, hard-working,

handy, safety-oriented, and a self-starter. This individual should be able to take initiative

as part of a fast-growing operation. Our operation draws on progressive soil, grass, and

cattle management principles from Bud Williams, Jim Gerrish, Gabe Brown and others

to optimize performance. We are looking for an individual who is focused on excellence

and constant improvement. Housing provided (utility costs paid by ranch). Housing can

easily accommodate single or married persons.

This is a full-time position.





JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: (November-May) 80% horseback work • Unload cattle into

the feedlot. (this sometimes is late at night)
• manage and carry out processing of all

incoming calves. Stage calves into groups to go out into grass traps 

• take ownership

of feedlot facilities/surrounding grass pastures (water tanks/feed lot pens/ processing

barn) Maintain electric fence system. (The operation has a five-strand barbed wire

perimeter fence but has a network of permanent electric fences that run throughout

some of the grass traps. Help operate heavy equipment for occasional infrastructure

improvement projects. Infrastructure projects include, but are not limited to, property

fencing, stock water development pipelines, ponds

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: (June- October) 100% horseback work.

Moving/gathering/managing yearling cattle on a rough mountain grazing allotment.

Develop and carry out grazing rotations. Keep and maintain good cattle records.

Proactively manage cattle to minimize wolf and Bear predation. Ship cattle in the fall.


REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid Driver’s License and be able to be insured.



• Cattle experience is a must.

attention to detail and ability to notice sickness in cattle

• Must be willing to learn new cattle handling principles

Must be willing to live in the valley in the winter and on the mountain in the summer/

early fall. This is a fully migratory position. (Good housing is available in both locations

and you will be given a year-round house in Burlington)

Willingness to work in very rough steep mountain grazing allotments. Ability to use

dogs or willingness to learn. Interest and ability to make a nice horse. 

• Able to

move/lift/maneuver up to 50 lbs.
 
• Welding/fabrication experience is a very strong

plus.
 Equipment operating ability (Skid steer, Loader, Excavator) or willingness to

learn.
We are looking for a career-oriented individual who is interested in a long-term

position. An individual who wants to work, learn and grow with us. If you are not willing

to take ownership of your cattle/feedlot/grazing rotation this will not be a good fit for you.

You will be around a lot of grizzly bears and wolves, if that will make you uncomfortable

this may not be a good fit. Burlington, Wyoming is a quiet and friendly, family-oriented



ranching/farming community with fantastic schools. The operation wintertime Head

quarters are located 5 minutes out of town.
