Description:
My name is Josh Burnsed. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in livestock management as well as almost 10 years of experience. In addition, I am currently working to obtain my master’s in natural resource management from the University of Idaho online.

I started working at a ranch at 18 and eventually became a herd manager for the same ranch. Not ruling out guest ranch opportunities, but I am mainly looking into operation with cattle. I am not interested in feedlots at this time.



Experience developing and implementing rotational grazing systems. Used horses and dogs (dogs have good handle) to move cattle daily, AI certified, palpation trained, have been involved in almost all aspects of beef cattle production. Built and repaired plenty of fences. I am computer literate. Overall systems approach kind of person. I enjoy my time in the saddle but also understand and enjoy the other parts of being responsible for land and livestock. Anything I don’t know I am a quick and willing learner.



NOT a mechanic but have worked on hay and other heavy equipment, replaced bearings and basic repairs and preventative maintenance. Have operated excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, and skid steers. I don’t currently shoe my own horses but would be willing to learn.



Drug free, none smoker and even tempered.



My wife grew up in agriculture and has a bachelor’s degree in agriculture. She worked for my previous ranch in addition to her full-time position working for the state department of agriculture. If the ranch is remote, on-site work would probably be needed but not necessarily on a full-time basis.



We come with two horses, two extremely well-mannered pet dogs and two working dogs.



Preferred locations: northern New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, other locations are a possibility.
