Description:
I am a 31yo Navy veteran and fulltime rangeland ecology student at MSU - Bozeman. I am seeking live-in part time cattle work starting ~15Aug2025 to cover Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters with a possible extension to cover summer 2026.



I have completed a 7 month cattle/hay operation internship through the Rogue Farm Corps on a farm in Klamath Falls OR and am seeking to continue my cattle education. My general post-graduation job intention is to work in conservation/regeneration of rangelands, preferably hand in hand with ranching operations in Montana/Wyoming.



I am presently working as a barnhand at an English Hunter/Jumper barn in Bozeman and have experience giving shots, medication, identifying illnesses, and general horse handling. I have lightly assisted in calving, lambing, kidding, can drive tractors and fix fences, raise and butcher poultry, run wheellines and handlines, and do misc other jobs. I will be returning to Klamath Falls OR for the summer to work on the farm I interned on and will be returning to Bozeman the week before term starts.



I am ideally looking for a lot of cattle management experience in rotational grazing, breeding, calving, doctoring, etc. I would like more horse riding experience generally and education in roping/working cattle from horseback.



* I own two indoor cats and one 60lb German Shepherd mix dog.

* Prefer a large studio or 1 bedroom apartment, no interest in sharing living quarters.

* Prefer to work 15-20 hours a week, one weekend day acceptable. Schoolwork and homework are my priorities so time on campus during the schoolweek to attend tutoring is vital.

* Having a space to put chickens, or possibly a meat goat or lamb, would be great as well as potentially storing a freezer for hunted meat.

* Potential to bring along a trail horse would be nice but not vital.



I would like to interview/be interviewed by potential opportunities prior to the end of spring semester (May 8th) as I leave Bozeman May 10th.
