Description:
“Greatmindsarepipenhot” aka Bacardi

2015 (9yo) black APHA mare

UTD on shots, coggins, farrier, teeth etc;

Who’s looking for a been there, done that, fancy broke mare who’s still in her prime and will last for years to come?! Meet Bacardi! She is solid, sound, and can cover some major ground without skipping a beat.

Definitely more GO than WOAH-most of the time. Intermediate rider and up as she’s very soft with lots of buttons and will make it clear if you’re not cueing her correctly or being too hard on her face. It’s as simple as If you ride her like she’s green, she’ll act like she’s green. Ride her like a broke horse and you’ll have a heck of a broke horse who will go anywhere you tell her without any funny business.

Boss mare in a herd unless there’s a top dog gelding, but has been with many different herds of mares and geldings just fine. Ride her around a stud and she doesn’t act any different than normal, she couldn’t care less. Roughly 15.2hh - I have to measure her, but she’s a big solid girl. Rides in a bosal, snaffle, or bridle. Throw a neck rope on her(or don’t), and she rides bridleless just as good as with a bit. Neck reins, steers and stops off your body. She bends, yields her forequarters and hindquarters. Side-passes, will pick up the lope from a walk. She collects off leg and will collect at all gaits.

She can get HOT, it’s important that her rider can control a spicy horse especially if you bring her to a few barrel races.

She walks with a purpose down the trail, so if you’re looking for a slow lazy walk she is not your girl.

Lays down by voice command from the ground or from the saddle.

Been there done that.

I’ve high-tied her and camped multiple nights, completely by ourselves(no other horses or people) in the middle of the northwoods. Has been trail ridden 20+ miles day after day, she’ll lead or follow, but given the chance she’ll lead the whole day. Rides out alone without a care in the world.

I’ve ponied off her, I’ve drug calves for casteration, and used her to help gentle mustangs and do colt starts. She’s tough and gritty and can go all day. You won’t wear her out.

I’ve ridden her in spurs plenty for the buttons, but you don’t need spurs for speed or forward motion. She responds well without spurs also.

You can hobble her, one or both legs no problem, but she has learned to get around pretty good in them, so I usually don’t use them on her.

She’s been ridden double. Throw a little kid on her and she’s a totally different horse. She loves kids.

I’ve tied an ice fishing sled to her saddle, sat in the sled and used driving reins ran through the stirrups to have her pull me around.

She crosses water (she does like to splash and play in it), she doesn’t love going swimming in the lake when she actually has to swim, but she will do it.

You can jump her (no promises that she won’t knock it though 😂)

She’ll carry a flag without any care.

She ground ties *most* of the time if you tell her to stand.

Your dog can jump up on her and she won’t flinch.

She has guns shot around her all the time, but has never had a gun shot off her back.

She’s wicked fast and would make a bad ass barrel/pole horse - if you taught her to put all the pieces together and patterned her. I’ve never taken the time to actually pattern her, beyond just running fast and turning wide. She LOVES to run. She won me high point at a local show series having seen a barrel pattern twice in her life prior. Shows were once a month and I didn’t ride her in between (sad reality of being a trainer is not having time to ride your own horses) Her first time ever seeing a barrel pattern she won me a check at a competitive jackpot. I can pretty much jump on her at any race around here and pull a check. She’ll give you one hell of a keyhole or home run time too.

I’ve sorted cattle off her and won over $500 at the couple local events I went to doing that, but she can get hot and she does get anticipatey on live cattle.

She’s placed top 5 in low level cutting, herd work, boxing and ranch roping.

She’s confident, and she’ll do pretty much anything you ask her. Point her at the trailer and she’ll jump right in saddled or unsaddled, tied or not, slant load, straight load, stock trailer packed full of horses, etc; she never hesitates to jump right in, and if she does hesitate after riding in your trailer, I can pretty much guarantee there’s something wrong with the trailer(bearings/brakes/etc;).

Rope off her, I’ve taken her in parades and roped groups of kids, drag your kids around in a sled, try skijoring(i haven’t tried it with her but I’d bet she’d love it)

I’ve used her to direct traffic and park cars at concerts and events.

I’ve ridden her to the bar and tied her to the hitching post while we went in for a few hours and she always got me home. I’ve ridden through both McDonald’s and Culver’s drive throughs downtown.

She’s typically kept barefoot, but has been shod when I used to do a lot more rocky terrain trail riding, and she’s also had a few sets of sliders on in the past. Put sliders on her and she’ll slide half the length of your arena if you ask.

She currently lives outside 24/7 with access to a shelter. Has been stalled at night in the past and does great with that too.

I’ve had her since she was a yearling. PPE are more than welcome.
