Description:
Big John is a 10 yr old, 15.1 hand, 1275 lb outstanding ranch gelding. This is a superior ranch gelding that we bought straight off the legendary Matador Ranch in West Texas, where he was bred and raised, and carries their brands. Always in a good cowboys string and used for all ranch duties, including catching and tying down cattle in the brush, loading trailers, doctoring wheat pasture cattle, brandings and ranch rodeos. Big John is stout and strong, good bone and foot (wears a #2 shoe) lots of muscle and shape, big hip, deep in the heart girth, cinches up deep with a good set of withers to hold your saddle and handle anything you have to rope with ease. Can drag a big calf to the fire and will hold a rope to doctor one in the pasture. This is a real gentle horse with a big soft eye that has lots of manners and is a pleasure to be around and a blast to ride. He’s very cowy and will sure watch one and get in front of one like a much smaller horse. Big John has roped some in the practice pen on both ends, but has never been hauled to any team roping’s, no issues at all. Could easily make a big time head horse in an instant and I think an even better bustin’ horse!  Gentle and stays gentle but athletic and talented enough to please any cowboy out there! Tended lots of cattle in big rough country and he’s as good outside in the brush and rocks as you could ask for. Sure nuff boss man kind of ride and whoever is on him, he will shine at all tasks.
