We offer educational, recreational, and healing/restorative programs to a broad and diverse community. We envision a world that is nurturing and nourishing, where people connect with themselves, each other, and life. Job Purpose – The full-time Live-in Ranch Support role is primarily responsible for providing evening and weekend support for horses and other animals. The role is also responsible for performing general labor tasks and contribute to ensuring the overall well-being of the property. This position requires living on-site and being available for various duties as needed. Because CDM is an ecosystem and in collaboration with nature, many unforeseen circumstances and newly developed needs arise every day. This role should be prepared to work with these unforeseen occurrences with the support of the CDM team; including the ability to lift over 50lbs and work outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions. Priority Responsibilities include: Horses and Other Animal Care- • Feeding, water, and monitoring the overall well-being and health of the horses and other CDM animals. • Administering medications or treatments as directed by the CDM Barn Operations Manager or veterinarian. Facilities, Vehicle, and Land Maintenance- • Maintaining cleanliness of the barn, arena, and other animal living/ dwelling spaces. • Performing routine/minor maintenance on equipment like the mower, weeder, truck, and other ranch vehicles. • Coordinating and managing routine maintenance services for facilities (i.e., cabin, AC and water filters, septic, bee apiary mowing, etc.) • Assisting with pasture management, including mowing, fence repair, and clearing brush. • Monitoring and reporting any environmental concerns or hazards on the property. • Completing other projects and duties as assigned. Emergency Response- • Being prepared to respond to emergencies such as fires, severe weather events, or animal injuries. • Following safety protocols and procedures to minimize risk to animals and property. Primary Skills and Education include: • Experience working on a ranch or farm preferred. • Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and basic veterinary care. • Ability to operate machinery and equipment safely. • Maintain and operate machinery/equipment (small equipment). • Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor in various weather conditions. • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently as well as part of a team. • Must live on-site and be available to work flexible hours. • Interpersonal skills to communicate information to others. • Work respectfully with a diverse community of individuals. • Follow instructions and be able to work in a group. • Attend CDM team meetings.
