Description:
Herdsmen provide all care and management to a functioning cow/calf herd and are responsible for associated grazing lands, fences and water resources. They provide daily watch and care to cow herds and bull battery. Record keeping for cattle production, enterprise accounting as well as labor and machinery hours is required.



• Duties may include feeding, watering, herding, grazing, castrating, branding, weighing, catching, and loading animals.



• May maintain records on animals; examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; assist in birth deliveries; and administer medications, vaccinations, or insecticides as appropriate.



• May clean and maintain animal housing areas.



• This employee is required to be in attendance during all critical times of the production stages of beef cattle including but not limited to: calving, weaning and severe weather events.



This is a salaried position and hours may or may not be limited to a 55 hour work week. Minimum 3 years’ experience with cow/calf pairs, bulls and herd management required.



Pay starts at $50,000 to $65,000 per year. Relocation assistance available.
