Haying: Some Room And Board: Required Phone#: 402-430-9116 Description: Young ranch couple looking for a long term position in Nebraska where we can settle down and call the place home. We have a couple very special circumstances that I’ll start off with, so we don’t waste anyones time. We own our own cows. Currently have 15 pair. I know that’s not very typical but we would bring them with us and either pay you to run them with yours or ask for your help in finding us ground to rent to run them. We also have family pets that will come with us. This includes 2 indoor cats. They don’t destroy stuff, they are litter box trained and have no issues. We also come with a German shepherd and a Hanging Tree working dog. The hanging tree is used to working with my boyfriend every day, so we would prefer that instead of him staying at the house all day, but we can work around that if needed. My boyfriend has over 15 years experience with cattle. He’s BQA certified, very experienced in calving, breeding, pasture rotation, all other aspects of cow/calf, fencing, machinery maintenance, and has a CDL. He brings plenty of experience and new ideas to the table and has a “manager” mindset rather than just a hired hand. Ideally he would like the responsibility of looking after his own herd and be in more of a manager type role. Would prefer cow/calf work, no feedlot, and is ok with haying.. Little to no row crops would be ideal. He would also like to get back in the saddle from time to time, but has used 4wheelers to handle cattle as well. As far as a job for myself, I would either be looking for something in town or on the ranch if you have work for me. I grew up on a ranch and have a lot of the same experience as my boyfriend and also show cattle and feedlot experience. If something on your place would be fitting for me, great! I’ve been working in corporate for the last 6 years and am ready to get back to doing what I love most, whether that be working with cattle directly or something else ag related. We have several weekends in May that we are busy and do not feel right about asking for time off when we’ve just started a new job, but if you don’t mind that, we can start anytime. Housing must be provided. I’m a volunteer EMT and he’s a volunteer Fireman, and we would like to be involved with the local department if possible.
