As a Ranch Hand/Cowboy, you will be responsible for various tasks related to the daily operations of our ranch, including but not limited to fencing, cattle management, horse care, equipment maintenance, and property upkeep. Responsibilities: Fencing: Construct, repair, and maintain fences to ensure the safety and security of livestock and property boundaries. Cattle Management: Assist in the care and management of cattle, including feeding, watering, herding, branding, and vaccination. Monitor cattle health and promptly address any issues. Riding: Proficiently ride horses for various tasks such as herding cattle, checking fences, and patrolling the property. Roping: Demonstrate skill in roping techniques for cattle handling, roping practice, and other ranch-related activities. Equipment Operation: Operate basic ranch equipment such as tractors, ATVs, and utility vehicles for tasks such as hauling feed and moving equipment. Equipment Upkeep: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on ranch equipment to ensure proper functioning and longevity. Keep equipment clean, lubricated, and stored properly. Other Duties: Assist with additional tasks and projects as assigned by ranch management. Requirements: Experience: Previous experience working on a ranch or farm, with demonstrated proficiency in fencing, cattle handling, horse care, and equipment operation. Knowledge: Strong understanding of cattle management practices, including health care, nutrition, and behavior. Proficient in horseback riding and roping techniques. Skills: Excellent horse riding and handling skills, with the ability to handle cattle confidently and safely. Basic mechanical skills for equipment maintenance and repair. Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions, including lifting heavy objects, bending, stooping, and walking long distances. Communication: Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with ranch staff, communicate issues or concerns, and follow instructions. Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Basic knowledge of tractor driving and safe operation. Benefits: Competitive pay based on experience and skills.
