We are looking for an individual that will be an asset to the ranch, takes direction well and is physically able to do the work. Being self-motivated is a must and being able to work solo or as a team. Disrespect/abuse to ANY animals will NOT be tolerated. Must possess a valid state-id issued license. Work includes all aspects of ranching from calving, feeding livestock, fencing, haying, repairs/maintenance, doctoring, moving/sorting cattle, installing water tanks, repairing/maintaining our own water wells and driving misc. machinery. This is not a “cowboy position”. We do ride horses when applicable for moving cattle but use four wheelers for time efficiency. About Ritthaler Cattle Company: We are roughly a 750 head cow/calf operation during the summer and winter around 1000 head of cattle, including bred heifers. We produce roughly 1500 acres of our own dryland hay with well-maintained equipment. During the winter months we feed the cattle very well with the hay we put up along with cake for supplement. We typically use hyrdrabeds with cake feeders on good reliable trucks. We also have a feed supreme and hustler for various feed projects, including weaned calves. Summer pastures are big and are watered with pipelines, solar, and windmill wells. We use four wheelers frequently to check water status and herd health. We strive to work cattle in a low stress situation. Heifers will start calving in April and cows will begin calving in May. We turn out the cows to calve on their own. We calve heifers in a small pasture and only intervene when necessary. We tag as they calve and push out pairs in small bunches. We doctor livestock ourselves using dart guns or roping when needed. We do most of our own repairs and have a heated and cooled shop to do it in. Repairs range from welding, tires, mechanizing, water maintenance, fencing, general equipment, and sometimes just the general handyman jobs. Including some house repairs when necessary. We are a part of the volunteer fire department and have two 6x6 fire trucks. We are expected to be at any nearby fires. We pride ourselves with hard work and work long days. Days off are limited while feeding, calving, and haying. We try to take weekends off when possible and only do the necessities on Sunday. A 3-bedroom 1 bath house with an unfinished basement is included with employment. Inside you can find a stove, refrigerator, deep freezer, washer and dryer. Utilities included are propane, electricity, water, sewer, and trash service. Fiber optic internet is available at your expense. Boarding for horses is available and well-trained pets are up for discussion.
