Calving help needed!

Short term, immediate opening for single ranch hand/calving help. Position open ASAP and goes at least until June 1, 2024. We are a multi generational family ranch located in South Central South Dakota. If you like working cattle horseback, that is our focus as we are a horse friendly operation, with the occasional use of a pickup. No atvs/utvs, we don’t even own one. Individual can bring up to 2 horses, or we will provide a horse to ride.



Primary duties include but not limited to: anything calving related, day and night calving rotations, fencing, feeding and checking waters, checking cattle, moving cattle, brandings, and general ranch chores.



If you have experience, great, but it isn’t required. We are willing to teach the right individual and will be out there working with you. We are looking for an individual who is teachable, positive, detail oriented, willing to take directions, work and think well in fast paced high intensity situations. Individual must be reliable, honest, not arrogant, hard working and self driven. Must be able to work as a team also. This is imperative.



Food/meals are provided. Housing is cowboy bunkhouse style and rugged. You won’t be hanging out there much anyways.



Pay is DOE. Please provide at least 2 character and work ethic references. We will provide references on our end, for you, also.



No alcohol, drugs or smoking on the ranch. Must have a valid driver’s license.
