Following skills are not a must but will be taught if needed: Welding rod or MiG General maintenance plus on tractors, trucks, haying equipment Fencing barbed wire and permanent and temporary electric fences Following knowledge and skills required: Horseback cattle work Calving out heifers and cows night shift Not being an alcoholic (anymore this seems to be a skill, don’t get us wrong a drink or two now and then is fine but we aren’t hiring an alcoholic) Reliable work ethic always put your best foot forward Calf and cow doctoring administration(roping not needed but would be welcomed, we can usually dart if needed or run an animal into corral, occasionally we dally off) Additionally we need someone willing to work hard to improve our efficiency and sustainability of our cow calf operation. We are a family owned and operated ranch for 113 years in the Big Belt Mountains of Montana, some of the best ranch country in the state. We need an hired individual to be drama free and our eyes and ears to the health and wealth of our operation. We’d prefer a single person younger willing to learn and help us as described. Be willing to fit into the community and help us be the stewards of this outstanding way of life. We have housing accommodations with full amenities and potential to place a nice trailer home on ranch for hired hand after a year of commitment with room for pay increase and other privileges such as vacation time. Must have valid driver’s license and No Criminal Record. Prefer single individual or married and kids out of house. Position for hire immediately for the right individual. Trial period of 3 months. Housing and utilities provided. $1500/month during trial period with workers compensation. After trial period $2000/month with housing and utilities. Incentives for long term commitment such as annual bonus, elk hunting, after 3 yrs potential to run up to 5 head of own cattle in addition to pay, housing, and bonus.
