Description:
ISO a couple or two individuals (please apply together) for a seasonal range riding job and private property summer grazing job. The job includes two employers: Warm Springs Grazing Association and Giem Angus. Dates for employment are May 15 through November 30. We are looking for someone who would return for following years. Employees must be self starters and willing to spend the time alone in remote area. Majority of job will be done horseback but other tasks must be completed.



Warm Springs Grazing Association

Employees responsibilities include:

• Repairing and maintaining fence

• Maintaining water developments and tanks

• Riding health on cattle, must be able to efficiently rope and doctor cattle

• Move cattle between pastures

• Distribute salt to cattle

• Take grass readings, both riparian and upland. Maintain records for grass reading for Forest Service and Association

• Watch for predation in cattle, both grizzly bear and wolf

• Communicate with Forest Service personnel

• Communicate with Association members

• Communicate with state trapper and predator control members

• Any other tasks deemed necessary by association



Giem Angus

Employees responsibilities include:

• Maintain and repair fence

• Flood irrigation

• Put up and maintain electric fence

• Rotate small group of cattle on flood irrigated pastures

• Check health and doctor cattle as necessary

• Spray weeds

• Any other tasks deemed necessary by employer



Job is in remote area approximately 30 miles from nearest small town. Two bedroom house and utilities are included; house includes phone and internet. Employees must provide their own truck and trailer, horses, and small tools for the job. An ATV and UTV are provided for use. Reimbursement is provided at end of season for use of personal truck and trailer.
