I am 26 years old and looking for my next opportunity in the ranching industry. I am looking for a ranch hand or manager position in WY, MT, NE, ID, CO or other western states. I would like a place that uses horses for most to all cattle work. Below is a quick summary of my skills and experiences that pertain to ranching and cattle. College Education Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business May 2019 Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado - Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Certificate Cattle Manager – 4 years •Overseeing and managing 725 calving cows and 130 yearling heifers year round •Monitoring calving heifers and cows from March to June to ensure cow and calf health (night checks, calf pulling, cow/calf pairing, tagging, branding, doctoring, record keeping) •Checking and rotating cattle groups on horseback to maintain pasture health and to keep cattle herd healthy. •Building new fence and maintaining current fence (barbed, electric, corral, etc.) •Managing ranch hands to complete projects, move cattle, and keep ranch looking well kept. •Communicating with ranch owner on current condition of cattle herd and future plans. •Backgrounding calf crop with silage, hay, and corn. Fed through feed truck and bale bed •Assisting in the production of dryland and irrigated corn, wheat, millet, and summer fallow crops while running all types of equipment involved in the farming process (tillage, planting, spraying, irrigation, harvest, hauling) •Operation of all hay equipment on both dryland hay and irrigated alfalfa (Swather, hydro-swing, rake, baler, bale hauler) •Operating a semi with multiple types of trailers (grain, cattle, spraying, flatbed) (will acquire CDL if desired) •Moderate mechanical duties (oil change, parts replacement, troubleshooting, etc.) to maintain tractors, combines, sprayers, implements, pivots, water systems, etc., •Operating other types of equipment to maintain farm and ranch needs (skid steer, excavator, etc.) •Light welding to fix minor damage down by cattle or equipment.
