Description:
Large cattle operation located in Melrose NM is seeking an experienced cattleman to care for 500 head on pasture at this location. This 500 head mainly consists of cow/calf operation with some wheat pasture stockers in the winter and grass pasture stockers in the summer.



Duties would include rotating cattle on pasture, feeding, riding, mending fence, tagging calves, doctoring any sick or injured cattle and being our eyes and ears for all of the outside cattle. You must be trustworthy, dependable, able to follow instruction, know cattle and their behaviors in order to quickly identity sick or injured animals. You also must be able to communicate regularly with our Herd Manager.





We will provide a feed truck to use at this location, all the feed and supplies needed to tend to this herd, stipend for horse care, and possibly a place to live within a couple months. We will need you to provide knowledge and experience as well as a good horse. We follow a strict program on doctoring and feeding and expect you to do the same.





Ideal candidate will be able to provide references, have a clean driving record, must be drug/alcohol free and have proven experience with cattle.





Our crew helps when needed with things such as preg checking, weaning calves, and working the herd. We will also need you to periodically help with processing cattle at other locations as well as some general maintenance. This will be a full-time 50 hours/week position (winter may be a little less, summer may be a little more).
