Ranch Hand needed for Small 35 acres Horse Ranch chores mornings and evenings , basic 1-2 hours /day (and will be also at noontime while I’m away from the ranch, the extra noontime chores will be compensated extra as well) 7 days a week (Hours and days work can be flexible, and can be arrange and changed with mutual agreement) I will prioritize hiring an individual who can do multiple additional tasks: house maintenance, repairs as needed, etc.… which will be compensated separate from the basic ranch work, and you will be paid as independent contractor, at your set fee. House Cleaning work is offered also cleaning 2 bedroom/ 2 bath for future Airbnb) this is also separate from the ranch business with salary negotiable. Free apartment available Must: Be honest, mature and dedicated to the wellbeing of 5 horses Keep living apartment clean and in good condition at all time. Provide 3 good referrals Absolutely no smoking Sorry NO DOG ALLOWED Work description: Feeding 2- (3 times when I’m away) daily 5 horses Mucking 3-4 times daily in summer time (fly season) when horses are kept inside the stable, and 2-3 times a day in winter inside stable as well Mucking (1-2 acres) pastures 2-3 times a week during summer season and 1-2 times a week during cold seasons Stable Water Buckets must be clean scrub daily before refilling with fresh water Pasture Water Bins, when visually dirty must be emptied, scrub clean, before refilling with fresh water I LOVE NICE CLEAN WATER FOR THE HEALTH OF OUR HORSES. Occasionally help me with brushing/ wash horses Check hooves at least once a week Move horses inside and out the stable according to weather pattern (they are kept inside when windy, raining, snowing, or during Elks passage a few days during spring and fall) they stay out in pastures day and night when weather permits it. Blanket horses as needed when colder than 20-25 degree Operate skid to fix utility road occasionally (2 times/ year average) and use also to push manure to a pile at the lower level dump, done every months or 2 months. Fix wire fences as needed Must be able to lift and move 65 pound bale easily and without causing much strain or pain Take all garbage’s out to the curb weekly Keep stable, workshop and ranch property neat and orderly at all times Removing snow from stable runs ( as much as possible) as needed to help avoid melting i.e causing overly muddy runs Use plow truck on driveway in winter as needed (7-10 time per year average/year). The property is on the south East side with sun exposure all day long melting most of snow fall of 6” or less within 1 hour direct sun. We are also very lucky to be located in a "Banana Belt" :not much snow or rain, as our neighbor towns do get lots more…) I try to think of everything possibly needed to be done, but there are things that come up and are very hard to predict which are not stated on this list of chores. As we are in the process of getting a permit for a short-term rental (Airbnb) and it will require regular cleaning which will be paid separately and from that rental business, I will prefer hiring a couple for that reason (but not necessarily). I will be here to also take over some regular chores while some other chores are necessary (ex: plowing, rid of extra snow in runs, and others, otherwise if i’m unable to be there while extra work are needed, I will compensate $ for the extra time worked) Other work will be available for extra $$$: Weed whacking along driveway and back of house along buildings (once or twice a year) this is about 1-3 hours depending on the area in need at the time Yearly pressure wash of house and deck and staining of deck(s) “Possibly” staining of house Painting on workshop and stable partly and/or whole buildings (they are both due for a protective coat) Planting flowers (not a whole lot) Some landscaping work Occasional car/truck/ mule cleaning Hanging fly traps throughout property refreshing runs(curing pee spots on occasion, add pea gravel, etc...) Others… This position is ideal for a young retired couple who don’t need of full time work and would like to make a little extra $ without having to leave their home… Or is also working at home (although slower internet speed here in the mountain... on the waiting list for Starlink)) Or you may have a hubby and can be flexible enough to take good care of the horses needs We will be away for short and longer period at time and will trust that all is taking care of. Good communication is "extremely" important between all. If you do not communicate well, please do not apply for this position.
