Hello!

My name is Zoe. I am currently looking for a ranch hand position. Ideally I would like to move away from the performance horse world and move more towards the ranching side of things. I enjoy working hard and I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty. I take great pride in my work! Like most people in this industry this is my profession because I love it not because I have to.

I have been working in the equine industry for 10 years, but have been riding my whole life. I have extensive experience handling everything from foals to stallions. I have swung a leg over just about anything you can think of. From starting colts to finished cutters and everything in between. I was a loper in Texas, as well as a foaling attendant at a large scale Thoroughbred farm in Lexington, Kentucky. I’ve worked at several large scale performance facilities as well. I’ve been responsible for up to 200 head of horses at a time. I am efficient in feeding, cleaning stalls, grooming, medicating (IV/IM, oral, topical), bandaging, and all other aspects of equine care and maintenance.

I can drive a truck, trailer, tractor, etc., use power tools efficiently, landscape and have some experience with electrical and welding. I am familiar with farm maintenance. I am able to do basic trims on horses as well. I have some experience with cattle but I’ll admit I have more to learn when it comes to that side of things. I could also use a refresher when it comes to swinging a rope. Although some aspects of ranching are new to me, I am easy to teach and happy to learn! I am glad to work long hours and am not new to the hard work it takes to run and maintain a business with livestock.

I am looking for something long term. I do need a roof over my head, but don’t require anything fancy. I have one dog and two horses (mare and foal) that need to come with me. That is a non-negotiable. I know most places allow one horse, and I am happy to pay board for the other once it gets onto feed if needed. My dog is very well trained in general and around all types of livestock, or can be left in a stall or at home during work hours. I can provide references for her from previous employers.

I am willing to relocate anywhere in the US, however I would prefer to work in the North-central Midwest (Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, Idaho, Iowa, North or South Dakota, etc.) if possible. This is negotiable for the right position. I am looking to start in 2-4 weeks.

Overall, I’m on the pursuit of happiness and nothing makes me happier than working hard, working outside, and working with animals. I’m not chasing money or a title, just a fulfilling life.
