Description:
We are seeking a motivated person for full time ranch employment on a remote ranch in Grant County, Oregon. We ride a lot, however this is not just a cowboy job. You will be expected to fix miles and miles of fence in steep, rough country. No farming, minimal irrigation, but lots of fencing, winter feeding, chores, tractor/backhoe work and cattle work. We are very traditional in how we operate our livestock operations and all cow work is done horseback. Must have some experience handling cattle in big country or be a quick starter who is willing to learn. Roping and shoeing skills are appreciated. We work long hours - 6 days a week and sometimes you will have to work on Sunday’s as well. We are a multi-faceted operation that runs commercial cows, purebred Hereford and Angus cows, markets bulls annually, has a bred heifer program and a large-scale quarter horse operation. We are a family ranching operation and want to find a young family or married couple that wants to be part of what we are doing. We are not a big outfit, but medium sized. We run on about 65,000 acres, and have several USFS grazing allotments. Feel free to look at our website if you want to check us out. highdesertcc.com. Small but nice house provided. Nearest school is 30 miles away (K-6). Junior High/High School is 40 miles away and no bus runs out to ranch. Bus stop is 22 miles away. Wages depend on experience.
