He is 6yrs old and is a true old fashion Welch Pony. Standing at 11.3 hands with lots of shape and great bone, he is made to last! We purchased Pudge from a family friend. He spent a year of his life in a reining barn and had a flawless foundation on him when we got him! Since then he’s been our kids favorite partner in crime! Its not uncommon to pull in our drive way and find Saylor and pudge on the porch, in the house, or enjoying a joy ride to the store for candy and sodas! Pudge has a huge personality and an even bigger heart! He is extremely patient and forgiving. Pudge has a smooth jog an easy canter, side passes both ways, and will even ride without a bridle! His neck rein is very light and he stops immediately on whoa, making him a great mount for a beginner child! Pudge has been over some ground poles and small jumps, he’s been hauled along to ropings, parades, and play days. We also have taken him on some trails at the Palo Duro Canyon. He crosses water and obstacles with ease, and he handles time off perfectly. Kyler and Saylor both have roped some slow calves on Pudge with a breakaway, he tracks great and gives them a shot every time, we have also drug some calves on pudge and sorted the roping steers on him. He has been through the barrel and pole patterns as well, and would be a great Jr rodeo horse. My most favorite thing about Pudge are his manners! It’s rare to find a pony with manners this great, he is never one ounce pushy, he is mindful of the little ones space and will patiently stand there for them to brush, saddle, and bathe him. They can catch him anywhere and slip his halter on and he will follow them everywhere!
