Description:
This is a really nice colt with a good mind, loads of athletic ability, and a ton of eye appeal. He turns heads everywhere we take him. He is the perfect age to take in any direction you choose, whether you want to use him on the ranch, make a performance horse out of him, or even just use him to ride around on trails. Sterling is a well built 4 year old bay roan gelding, 15hh with a ton of shape, plenty of bone, and a pretty head with a kind eye. He is well bred but sells as GRADE. Sire was a grandson of Peptoboonsmal and dam was a granddaughter of Colonel Freckles. Sterling was broke by a really good cowboy who day worked off of him for about a year, and put an excellent foundation and work ethic into him. I have owned him for the last 6 months and have enjoyed every ride I’ve had on him. He has been used for all phases of ranch work, including sorting pairs, roping and doctoring cattle in the pasture, dragging calves to the fire, and checking fence. Sterling is exceptionally gentle and you don’t have to be a cowboy to ride him. He has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off, and will time could make a wonderful kids horse. He is good minded and willing, with a ton of heart and try. He has a very good handle, an excellent stop, is good on both leads, will work a gate, and sidepass. Sterling is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He isn’t bothered by dogs, pigs, deer jumping out, kids running around, go carts, or anything else we have exposed him to. Sterling would make an excellent ranch versatility horse or heel horse, and rides just as quiet in new places as he does at home. He can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. Asking $10,500. He has excellent ground manners, stands quietly tied, and is easy to catch, load, haul and shoe. He recently had coggins, teeth, and shoes done, and is ready to go.
