JOB DESCRIPTION



January 2022



Holding’s Sunlight Ranch is looking for an individual to work as a seasonal ranch hand in the mountains outside of Cody, Wyoming. Work locations will be both the Sunlight Basin and Crandall area approximately one hour from Cody, Wyoming. This individual will aid with yearling cattle care and ranch maintenance on private pastures and mountain forest grazing allotments. We are an intensive grazing, low stress handling ranch, we do pasture rope and doctor but this is not a “run, rope, choke” outfit. All cattle work is conducted on horseback, but this is not a full time cowboy position. We are looking for individuals with excellent cattle and horse handling skills who are enthusiastic, hard-working, safety-oriented, and able to take initiative to solve problems and contribute to an efficient cattle operation.



Two personal horses are welcome, ranch horses will be available if needed.



Dogs are welcome as long as they are well mannered.



This position includes housing and utilities/internet covered by the ranch.



Depending on operations, there may be opportunities to remain as a full-time ranch hand at the end of the season.



Singles or couples welcome and encouraged to apply.



Aid with college credits and internship programs will be provided if needed.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



Job duties include, but are not limited to:



• Cattle work and doctoring on irrigated pastures and forest allotments.

• Building and maintaining permanent and temporary fence.

• Maintain water troughs.

• Irrigation, hand line, wheel line, pivots.

• Organizing and cleaning work areas (barns and shops).

• Other tasks that arise in a cattle operation.



REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be capable and confident horse rider with roping experience.

• Experience with or willingness to learn Bud Williams animal handling techniques.

• Able to work independently or with others.

• Must have a valid driver’s license.

• Able to move / lift / maneuver up to 50 lbs.
