If you are looking for a big horse in a small package, one that is SAFE and game for just about anything you throw at her, then take a look at Ginger. She is a really cute 12.3hh quarter pony mare, thick built and perfectly capable of carrying a small adult, but gentle enough for a kid. Ginger is 16 years old and has has done a little bit of everything. She has been ridden on the ranch, rides English and jumps, has been shown in some local shows, has given lessons to kids, has been ridden bareback and has done obstacles. Ginger is tough and brave, not bothered by anything, bt at the same time gentle, safe and dependable. She does not have any of the typical nasty pony habits, has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off, and will not rub your kid off on a fence or run them under a tree. I bought Ginger for my young son but she is just too much horse for him. He is a very beginner and she has plenty of go, so she requires more of an advanced beginner/intermediate or better rider. Ginger has excellent ground manners, stands quietly tied, is good for the shoer, and loads and hauls well. She can be hard to catch in a large pen but easy in a smaller one. She rides good both in the arena and out in the pasture, and is not gate sour, barn sour or buddy sour. Ginger is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. She has been taught to travel out and will keep up with and often times outwalk the big horses. She will neck rein or direct rein, is good on both leads, and can open gates. Ginger can be ridden out by herself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. She has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. Asking $3,500. She recently had feet, teeth and coggins done so she is ready to go.
