Red is an excellent teacher & confidence builder for the inexperienced roper learning to pasture doctor and those learning to rope at brandings. Red has mostly done head & heel, some heel & drag. We’ve owned Red since the summer of 2019, and before that, we’d been around Red very consistently for 3 years prior to us purchasing him. We know him very well and he’s continued to prove himself to us fully. He crosses water, bridges, goes through boggy areas,rides great with dogs, and is safe to ride alongside the road with truck traffic. Rides out solo and rides great in a group. Red has also proven himself over the years to handle time off without getting fresh. The longest consecutive time he’s had off is roughly 10 months. On average, he gets every October/November through March/April off and has never needed lunged or warmed up for that first ride back in the spring. Saddles up normal, patiently stands for a person to get on, and will calmly walk right off. He is easy to catch in a large pasture, easy to shoe, & easy to load/unload. Red is middle of our herd’s pecking order. He is also trained to lower his head to halter and bridle. He requires light maintenance which I am happy to disclose to serious buyers.
