If you are looking for an athletic, quick footed horse to use on the ranch or in the sorting pen, then Safari is the horse for you . She is a big, nicely built mare, standing 15 hh and close to 1200 pounds, with a big hip, wide chest and plenty of bone. Safari is 15 years, sound and with plenty of life left. She has been turned out for the last 9 years and we recently brought her up and went to riding her, and she hasn’t missed a beat. We bought her from the estate of the man who had owned her, after he passed away, so we did not receive her papers and there is NO WAY to get her papers. She sells as GRADE. However, the family told us she is a granddaughter of Peppy San Badger on the top side and a granddaughter of Gay Bar King on the bottom side. Safari has spent the majority of her life on a ranch out in West Texas, where she was used for all phases of ranch work, including sorting pairs, roping and doctoring cattle in the pasture, and checking fence. She is very quick footed and catty, and excels in the sorting pen. She has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off, but because she is so sensitive and responsive she does require an experienced rider. Safari is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. She has an excellent one handed neck rein, is good on both leads, will sidepass and work a gate. Safari can be ridden out by herself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. She has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. Asking $4500. She has good ground manners, stands quietly tied, and is easy to load, haul and shoe. She recently had shoes, teeth and coggins done so she is ready to go.
