We’ve had a lot of good horses over the years and it’s no exaggeration to tell you that this is one of the coolest guys we have had. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION- this standout gelding needs some maintenance which I’ll tell you about at the end of the post but don’t have time to reiterate a hundred times.



Houston is gentle, honest, versatile, very well-trained and easy to be around. He carries himself with a quiet, gentlemanly demeanor and is handy and capable to boot. He is the definition of the word broke: respectful off the bit, rides one-handed, lopes out of his tracks, moves easily off your leg, lopes smooth, perfect circles in the arena, stops on cue, rates up or down off your seat and is fun to ride bridleless. He is trustworthy with time off and a seasoned hand on the ranch or trails. Honestly a trained monkey could work cattle on Houston. It ain’t his first rodeo and he has a knack for reading a cow without moving out from underneath you. He will track one to rope, work a herd or sort the shipping alley with a quiet confidence that feels like a million bucks. He is smooth and responsive, intuitive and "the real horseman’s kind."



Houston is a ranch girl favorite and he would be a dream come true for many people with horse experience, but he is not a deadhead lesson horse to start your little kids or timid beginner on. He is gentle-minded and polite, but a few steps ahead of those folks in the training and feel department. I have been using him to teach my riders how to improve their training and feel, and he fills the role beautifully because he is polished, finished and quiet in the arena!
