If you are looking for a horse that can do it all, from ranch work, to trail riding, to playdays, to packing friends around the ranch, then take a look at Spot. Spot is a 15 year old sorrel gelding, 15.2 hh, and he sells as GRADE. He came off of a ranch out in West Texas, where he was used for all phases of ranch work, including sorting pairs, roping and doctoring cattle in the pasture, and checking fence. Spot is gentle enough for just about anyone with basic riding skills. He has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off, and even if he is not ridden regularly he will still be the same gentle horse. Spot is honest and dependable, with a willing disposition and a very friendly nature. He is very nicely broke, with an easy one handed neck rein and a good stop. He has a very smooth trot that you could sit to all day long, a rocking horse lope, and has been taught to walk out and really cover some ground. Spot is laid back and rides quietly on a loose rein, but is lightning fast when you ask him for speed, He has been used at playdays to run barrels and poles, and while I would not call him a finished barrel or pole horse he is quick and has good turns and would be a very good mount for someone who wants to take the time and finish him out. Spot is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He will sidepass, work a gate, and carry a flag. Spot can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, will happily lead or follow, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. Asking $4500. Spot has excellent ground manners, stands quietly tied, and is easy to catch, load, haul and shoe.
