Description:
If you are looking for a good ranch gelding that is broke the way one should be, quiet in the pasture and with an excellent stop and neck rein, then take a look at Chrome. He is a 12 year old black gelding (although he is pretty faded from the sun right now), 15 hh and close to 1150 pounds. He is stout and nicely built with a big hip, wide chest and plenty of bone. Chrome is selling as GRADE. He has spent the majority of his life on a ranch out in West Texas, where he was used for all phases of ranch work, including sorting pairs, roping and doctoring cattle in the pasture, and checking fence. He is old man gentle, and the man riding him is 68 years old. Chrome is extremely cowy and quick footed when he needs to be, and excels in the sorting pen. When not working cattle he is laid back and rides on a loose rein, but comes to life when he knows it is time to work. He has an excellent neck rein, will slide to a stop, has a nice turnaround and pretty rollbacks. Chrome will sidepass, work off your leg, open and shut gates, and has the smoothest trot and rocking horse lope that you could sit to all day long. He has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off, and has never been spoiled or made into a pet. Chrome has seen more miles in his 12 years than most horses will see in their lifetime, and it shows in how he rides. He is as honest as the day is long, and you know exactly what you are going to get every time you step up onto him. He rides just as good with a rope around his neck as he does with a bridle. Chrome is stout, tough, and could pull a house down if you asked him to. He is strong to the horn and good on the end of a rope. He is an excellent ranch horse but has the athletic ability to make an outstanding head or heel horse, and the mind and disposition to make a nice safe trail horse as well. Chrome is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky when you are riding him. The only thing we can pick on him for is that he is watchy on the ground and can be hard to catch because until we got him he was always roped to be caught. He isn’t mean or dangerous, he just hasn’t been messed with much on the ground, just ridden. Chrome can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. Asking $5500 Chrome stands quietly tied, gets along great with other horses, will load in any type of trailer you ask him to, and is easy to saddle and bridle.
