Description:
POSITION PURPOSE:

The Lead Cowboy is responsible for completing daily operations at Agri Beef’s ranch in Loomis, WA, including monitoring and moving cattle. Their work enables day-to-day operation of the ranch. This position reports to the Ranch Manager.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor animal health

• Move cattle on horseback, roping and doctoring cattle as necessary

• Construct and maintain fence

• Operate and maintain equipment to feed cattle

• Calve out cows and heifers and maintain calving records

• Maintain a clean and organized work environment

• Maintain consistent and reliable attendance

• Other duties as assigned



QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong horse-riding ability/experience including roping

• Keen ability to identify distressed cattle

• Knowledgeable in herding cattle

• Responsible for shoeing horses used to perform job

• Strong time management skills

• Must be able to work extended seasonal hours as needed

• Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather and conditions

• Must possess a valid driver’s license

• Work is of physical nature, generally requires employees to lift up to 100 pounds and walk extended distances.

• Will be responsible for planning and executing pasture moves, at times with the assistance of other crew members.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

• Five or more years of ranch working experience preferred

• Experience working with AI/ET preferred
