Description:
Nasty Gray Notions (Zip) is dual registered AQHA/NFQHA 15 Y.O. 15-2 Hand 1250 lb Gray Gelding. He’s a gray roan with black skin and black hooves. He has extensive experience as a head horse for team roping and has spent a little time on the heal end but primarily used on the head. We bought him this past year for me to brush up on my use with a rope but life is getting in the way unfortunately. He’s utd on all his shots and Coggins and we keep shoes on him year-round. The farrier says he wears his shoes evenly and never gives him a problem during the process. He’s very easy to handle. Comes to the gate for me when I whistle for him; I never have to go after him in the field. He does well turned out with other horses and stables with never a bad habit. Loads easily and can be hauled for extended trips never giving you a problem. He’s a strong horse with great manors. Performs excellent in the arena and has a little Rocky Mountain trail experience. I would let anyone with any experience ride him in the field or in the arena but not in difficult trails as he’s still learning how to trail ride through rocks. He’ll cross creeks, downed trees and difficult rock sections but you must have an experienced hand to keep him from wanting to run through things. He’s got a big motor and the stamina to carry a 250+ lb rider but he’s never done anything to worry me in any situation.

Being ridden around other horses never phases him nor does riding out alone. He opens gates with you easily and has never been stubborn to take his bit and he stands perfectly still for being saddled and mounted.

I have nothing negative to say about Zip but I will mention he will challenge a horse to be dominant in the field. He’s not afraid of anything; ropes over his head, flags, dogs, coyotes, cats, deer, alpaca’s, walking next to steep drop off’s, passing vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, tractors, etc., he doesn’t spook and, in no way is he barn or buddy sour.

We live at 7000’ elevation and he has a thick winter coat but we still blanket when it gets into the zero temperatures and his blanket will go with him. Zip wore Duplo shoes this past summer and fall for trail riding but we switched him to steel with snow poppers due to the never ending snowfalls this year. No matter what shoes he’s wearing, he’s sure footed.

Delivery is negotiable as well. Asking $6,000. We have a very nice McDaniel’s comfort ride 16” ranch/roping saddle available along with a 5 star ¾” pad that can be negotiated with sale. Everything is like new.
