If you are looking for a well broke, quick footed, cowy young gelding to use on the ranch or make a performance horse out of, then check out Kirby. He is one heck of a nice horse, and extremely fun to ride. Kirby is 7 years old, 14.1 hh and stout, low to the ground and easy to get on but thick enough to carry a big man. He is built well with a big hip, wide chest and a cute head with a kind eye. Kirby is talented and very good minded and has more heart and try than most horses twice his size. He sells as grade and we do not know how he is bred. He is not a trader horse, I have owned him nearly 9 months and had planned to ride him in Ranch Horse Versatility shows, but with a new baby I don’t have the time he deserves. He is gentle enough that I was still riding him at 8 months pregnant. An experienced youth could have a lot of fun on him. Kirby has been used in a feedyard and on a big ranch out in West Texas for all phases of ranch work, including roping and gathering cattle in the pasture, sorting pairs, and tagging and doctoring calves. He is a nice ranch horse but would make a jam up sorting horse, or a calf, heel or breakaway horse. I have done some obstacles with him as well and he could do competitive trail so easily! Kirby is extremely athletic and rides quietly on a loose rein, but he has a big motor and is very quick when you need him to be. He is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. Kirby has been taught to travel out in the pasture and can go all day long if you want him to. He will go up, over or through anything you point him at, and is very sure footed. Kirby has a good handle and stop, an easy one handed neck rein, will work a gate, and will sidepass and work off your leg. He can be ridden by himself or with a large group of horses with no problem. Kirby will leave the group willingly and will happily lead or follow. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and is not bothered by it. This is a nice young horse that is ready for someone to take him to the next level. He has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off, even when not ridden regularly.
