Experience is required and wages DOE. This position comes with a smaller 3 bedroom, updated house, pickup and ATV. The house is located in a nice area with no traffic and about 15 minutes from town. There is also horse pasture as well as a barn and shop on that sight. Employee will be responsible for: - Growing adequate feed for cow/calf and yearlings by making efficient use of water in a flood irrigation system. Irrigation is divided up between all positions on the ranch. Each person is responsible for their area. - Maintenance of fences and use of some electric fence - Some calving assistance including night calving heifers in the spring. - Harvesting of native grown grass hay. Baling, raking and stacking. - Helping on horseback to gather, brand, ship etc. - Day to day maintenance of infrastructure and repairs. - A variety of other ranch duties. Everyone works in all aspects of ranching on this operation. Employee must be able to: - Communicate effectively for work plans, problems to be addressed, needs, etc. - Complete tasks without supervision - Adequately report hours and work done - Handle cattle in a quiet and appropriate manner. Almost all cattle work is done horseback. Other duties require use of ATV and the operation of tractors and backhoes as well as other machinery - Maintain equipment and keep records of maintenance. This includes routine service, welding and light mechanic work Preference will be given to candidates with the following experience, ability and attributes: - Previous ranch experience listed above, especially flood irrigation - Able to work unsupervised and also get along working with other employees. Amount of supervision depends on employee performance. - Someone who has their own horses - Great work related references - Candidates with a positive attitude About Berger Ranches We are a Cow/Calf operation that runs around 1300 head of mother cows. Our cattle run on private land, private lease, BLM, State and forest service leases. Our Cattle are black and black white face mixed. Our cows handle well and we cull heavily on disposition. We have updated facilities that we continue to improve. We take good care of our equipment. Everything is up to date and in good shape. Employee training and development are very important to us.
