Benton was raised in Llano, Texas on a ranch and has worked with cattle all his life and showed an interest in braiding at an early age. He won the Academy of Western Artists Hitcher and Braider of the Year award in 1996. It is not maker marked. The quirt is in unused condition and has been in a collection. This would be a nice quirt to use or to add to a collection.
