The bit is marked Fleming and Mexico. Fleming is listed in Old Cowboy Saddles & Spurs by Gretchen and Mike Graham. Fleming Bits and Spurs was a partnership between Willard Thomas and Richard Fleming and they were located in Bakersfield, California. They were known for excellent workmanship and sought after by collectors. The bit is steel and was originally blued and has started to rust. It is mounted with engraved sterling silver conchos and inlaid sterling silver below the conchos and inlaid on both edges of the cheek pieces. There are some minor marks on the mountings from use. It does not look like the bit has been used a lot. It has a sweetwater mouthpiece with copper inlaid stripes on the back of the bars. It is not bent, broken, or repaired. This would be a nice bit to add to a collection or to use.
