Description:
The Ranch is located 25 miles from the nearest town, 12 of which are only accessible by horse or wagon.





The guest ranch borders the boundary of Yellowstone National Park and a Wilderness area. The guests visit with family and friends, many of whom have been coming for generations. The ranch can accommodate 23 guests. During their visit, they enjoy trout fishing, hiking, eating, relaxing and riding the mountain trails.



Our season begins in May and runs through September. If you are not able to commit for the full season, please do not apply.



Horse Hand - (Email Mark at mark.schell@rocketmail.com)



Minimum of 3 years horseback experience.

Physical ability and willingness to learn how to drive and shoe horses is mandatory.

Proven riding and horsemanship abilities.

Match guests with horses and suitable rides, considering their skill level and needs.

Attend to the care of all ranch horses.

Maintain barn area daily.

Experience or ability to safely use and maintain tools and equipment.

Perform any other ranch chores as needed. Including, but not limited to, the following: care and use of chainsaws, trail clearing, fencing and splitting/distributing firewood.

Ability to work independently and complete tasks in the absence of supervision.





Housekeeper/Server (Email Sky at ranchsilvertip@yahoo.com)



The housekeeper/server position starts a $1700 a month with one day off a week. All employee’s live and stay on the Ranch for the season but do have a 5 day vacation during the summer. The season is from May 20th to September 25th. The first week of guests are scheduled to arrive around June 14th. The first few weeks involve spring cleaning of the buildings, training, and general preparations for the guests arrival. The Ranch runs on a weekly rotation, guests leave on Saturday morning and new ones come in on the same day. The lodge and other guest buildings are cleaned from top to bottom before the next guests arrive. Saturday is a big day for all of the employee’s!

It is very remote, employee’s and supplies come in on horse drawn wagons. The trip is 12 miles and usually takes two hours. Everyone helps to unload or load the wagons especially on Saturday and Thursday, which is grocery day. The Ranch runs on generators that supply all of the electricity.

Working as a team and getting along with other employee’s is expected and essential for the Ranch to run as smooth as possible. Employee’s must show up for work with a good attitude, ready to provide excellent customer service until the end of the season.



You will perform a variety of these tasks 6 days per week:

This position’s duties include, but are not limited to, the following:



Help ranch staff with spring cleaning and fall winterizing of all ranch buildings.

Clean all guest quarters on a daily basis.

Inventory ranch linens.

Set up and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner for ranch guests.

Assist Head Cook with minimal amount of food preparation.

Clean dining area and wash all guest dishes.

Aid Crew Cook with set-up and clean up of staff meals.

Launder kitchen and cleaning linens.

Deep clean guest buildings once a week.

Unloading wagons and putting away ranch consumables.

Perform other ranch duties as needed.

Ability to provide quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner.

This position is supervised by the Head Cook.

The Crew Cook position starts at $2,300 a month. Below are some of the duties you would take on. All employee’s live and stay on the Ranch for the season but do have a 5 day vacation during the summer. The season is from about June 4-8th to September 25th or so. The first week of guests are scheduled to arrive around June 14th. The first few weeks involve spring cleaning of the buildings, training, and general preparations for the guests arrival. The Ranch runs on a weekly rotation, guests leave on Saturday morning and new ones come in on the same day. The lodge and other guest buildings are cleaned from top to bottom before the next guests arrive. Saturday is a big day for all of the employee’s!

Everyone helps to unload or load the wagons especially on Saturday and Thursday, which is grocery day. The Ranch runs on generators that supply all of the electricity.

We also do a crew and guest BBQ once a week, you and I would split the cooking on that day. The cookhouse has more of a home type kitchen, fairly rustic, and a outside back pantry. It has a gas and wood stove. It is also part of the living quarters for some of the crew upstairs. It has a dining room, main room, office, washer/dryer and bathroom. It is the main hub of activity for the crew, making it a busy place! To be in this position it is essential to have a good attitude toward other staff members. I would expect this person to be friendly, upbeat and willing to be around people! As well as having experience and knowledge of cooking.



This position’s duties include, but are not limited to, the following:



Help ranch staff with spring cleaning and fall winterizing of all ranch buildings.

Prepare 3 nutritious meals, 6 days a week, for 14-15 staff.

Plan a weekly menu, order ranch consumables, and maintain inventory.

Wash all dishes from meal preparation.

Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and dining area.

Help launder kitchen linens.

Unloading wagons and putting away ranch consumables.

Deep cleaning the kitchen and cookhouse once a week.

This position is supervised by the Head Cook.





Silver Tip Ranch seeks hard-working individuals willing to contribute to a professional, friendly ranch atmosphere with excellent communication and strong organizational skills. All staff will work with a wide variety of ages and cultures. Silver Tip considers all positions equally important. Flexibility and working long hours, including weekends and holidays, is mandatory. Work requires occasional physical exertion and/or muscular strain. At times you will be exposed to the elements, job hazards, and the possibility of injury. A high school diploma or equivalent, 2 years of experience, and a valid drivers license is required.



We provide private bedrooms, but you will be sharing a bathroom with other staff. We provide all bedding, towels, laundry soap, and a washer/dryer for free. Silver Tip has a computer for crew and guest use. The internet usage is limited. E-mail and web surfing are okay, but downloading music, videos, games and face book pictures are prohibited. Phones are available to you, but you may be given a time limit. As for cell service, Verizon has the best coverage. All food, including beverages and snacks, is free.



All staff will receive a monthly salary and tips from a shared pool and a 5-day vacation. Due to the remoteness of the ranch, past crew members have indicated that it is a great place to save money. Days off can be spent riding, fishing, and hiking in some of Montana’s most spectacular back-country.
