Indoor: 6 ICU Stalls, 1 Nuc Med Stall, 4 Minor Surgery stalls



Outdoor: 2 Isolation, 15 paddocks.



Full Time Shift needed:



Thursday: 11am-8pm

Friday: 11am-8pm

Saturday: 8am-5pm

Sunday: 8am-5pm

Monday: 11am-8pm

This full-time position may also be split into two part-time positions, one position would cover Monday-Friday 2pm-6pm, and the other position would be 10 hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday.



The Barn Worker’s main responsibility is the order and cleanliness of the barn area and the comfort and care of the patients housed there.



The Barn Worker’s main responsibilities are as follows:



Hospital and Outdoor Stall Areas



Knowing the difference between alfalfa, bermuda, and timothy hay.

Feeding patients

Picking and bedding stalls

Stall cleaning/watering patients

Keep all large animal areas clean and in good order (refer to daily checklist)

Keep laundry current

Maintain cleaning supplies

Disinfecting stalls after patients are discharged from the hospital.

Keeping feed room clean and organized and keep senior technician in charge of ordering advised on what needs to be ordered.

Groom horses

Prepare stalls for incoming patients.

Clean and disinfect surgery room after every surgery.

Clean scrub room, induction, and recovery rooms.

Other Responsibilities



Maintain a professional appearance (for example, neat and clean uniform or other appropriate attire).

Will be required to clean areas exposed to bodily (equine) fluids and excrement.

Maintain a professional, courteous attitude.

Attend and participate in all required staff meetings.

Perform other related duties as directed by the doctors, hospital administrator, or lead technician.

Light maintenance duties, as needed (change light bulbs, regular tractor maintenance, change air conditioning filters, clean plumbing drains, lubricate equipment, etc.)

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have some horse-handling experience.



Language Ability

Basic- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization



Reasoning Ability

Intermediate- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
